Foo from afar

I've been following the reports and piccies from the Kiwi Foo Camp organised in some part by Russell Brown of Public Address and have to say just a few things:

1. I'm impressed
What a fantastic thing to do, to bring some of the great ideas brains together and just chew the fat about what's coming next and to get comunally excited about the possibilities of it all.

2. I'm jealous
What do I have to do to be considered worthly of inclusion at such an event? Clearly I haven't found a niche where I can shine yet! But I'm motivated.... there must be something cutting edge that I can take on...

3. Where were all the chicks?
Surely there are more women in New Zealand with important views to share. The piccies show predominantly male attendees. I know Judith Tizzard and a few others were there but where on earth were the rest of us? With a woman prime minister one would think NZ could cough up a few more influential chicks...... or was it something to do with the guest list?

4. What's next?
OK, I don't read every word of every post but I'm not that clear on what comes next. It would be a real shame if there weren't some groundbreaking next steps to come out of this.

On a different note, life by the 'ocean' (the lovely description that one of my American clients enthused about my new home) continues apace. And I do mean apace. The project management side of the business is kicking in big time.

There's still not enough of the copywriting work to make me feel like I'm working on what I love. Which flags to me that I'm sliding into that small business trap where you spend so much time doing the work coming in but you don't have time to shape the business to what you want it to be.

Personal resolution coming up:
Once the financial freefall caused by moving eases up, I will build CopyAnt to attract the work I want and have the guts to turn away the work that may distract me.

And no I'm not going to apologise to my much loved project management clients - you can remain as the chosen few that I work with :-)
